2011 Champion Tree Competition Underway; Winner to be Announced at Arborfest Celebration October 22

2011 CHAMPION TREE COMPETITION UNDERWAY;
WINNER TO BE ANNOUNCED AT ARBORFEST CELEBRATION OCTOBER 22

(October 14, 2011) Is there a champion growing in your yard? Frisco Parks
and Recreation is now accepting applications for the 2011 Champion Tree
Competition. Winners will be announced during this year’s annual
Arborfest Celebration on Saturday, October 22. The event will be held at
Frisco Commons Park, 8000 McKinney Road, beginning at 9 a.m. Bring your
whole family out to learn more about Frisco’s urban forest with a tree
tour through the park. The celebration will also include a ceremonial tree
planting.

Categories for this year’s tree competition are English walnut and
Bradford pear. All entries must be trees located on private property
within the Frisco city limits.

http://FriscoTexas.gov/SpecialEvents. Look for the Arborfest listing.
Entry forms are also available at the Frisco Parks & Recreation
administrative offices located at 6726 Walnut St. Office hours are Monday
through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The deadline for contest entries is
Wednesday, October 19 at 5 p.m.

Winners of the 2011 tree competition will receive plaques to display in
front of their champion trees.

Arborfest is sponsored by the Frisco Urban Forestry Board and the Frisco
Parks & Recreation Department. The Frisco Garden Club will also take part
in the celebration.
