CITY OF FRISCO ADVISES 'WHEN THUNDER ROARS, GO INDOORS' DURING THE COMING
STORM SEASON

(February 26, 2009) In North Texas, spring showers bring more than
flowers. High wind, hail and pouring rain are usually part of the
forecast. Severe Weather Awareness Week is underway right now, from
February 23 - 27. If you do not have one already, now is a great time to
make a severe weather safety plan for your family.

During this week, and the coming storm season, the City of Frisco wants
residents to remember 'when thunder roars, go indoors.' It sounds simple,
but taking cover immediately is the first and best thing you can do when
the weather turns threatening.

Go online to FriscoFire.com to find information that will help you protect
yourself and your family from severe weather. Click on 'Emergency
Management' from the left-side menu and then select 'Severe Weather'.
Learn how you can stay safe during thunderstorms, tornadoes and flooding.
You can also read about what defines a 'watch' and a 'warning' and how to
tell the difference between the two.

There's also information about the city's outdoor warning siren system and
how our Frisco Fire Department operates it. The outdoor sirens will never
be tested on stormy days. If the sky is dark and you hear the sirens wail,
it is time to put that severe weather safety plan into action. If you
have questions regarding storm safety, contact Frisco Central Fire Station
at (972) 292-6300.
