‘TEAM FRISCO’ HOSTS SPIRIT COMPETITION, AWARDS CASH PRIZES; JUST 11 DAYS
UNTIL NCAA DIVISION I FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
(December 28, 2010) ‘Team Frisco’ and the Frisco Chamber of Commerce are
calling on all Frisco businesses to show off their team spirit and compete
for cash prizes! The spirit contest deadline is Thursday, January 6.
Just eleven days left until the Delaware Blue Hens and the Eastern
Washington Eagles land at
Pizza Hut Park for the 2011 NCAA Division I Football Championship Game on
Friday, January 7.
“We need your help to welcome our out-of-state guests to Frisco,” said
Mayor Maher Maso, Honorary Chairman, “Team Frisco”, which is the local
organizing committee. “We may have as many as 8,000 new visitors to our
community. Let’s make them feel at home and deck our town in red, white,
blue – and gold, the competing teams’ colors. Together, let’s show them
how Frisco is redefining southern hospitality.”
“Team Frisco” -- which is made up of the City of Frisco, the Frisco
Economic Development Corporation, the Frisco Convention & Visitors Bureau,
Hunt Sports Group, Southland Conference and the Frisco Chamber of
Commerce -- is offering a $400 first place, cash prize to the business
that shows the most spirit, in the form of decorations, window dressing or
dressing their employees in competing college colors during Game Week.
Teams arrive Tuesday, January 4, signaling the start of ‘Game Week’, which
runs through Game Day on Friday, January 7. The business which places
second will receive a $200 cash prize. To enter, send a photo to

“Wear your favorite team colors, shoe-polish your windows, put up
posters,” said Tony Felker, President/CEO, Frisco Chamber of Commerce.
“You may even consider offering discounts to folks dressed in team colors.
By showing off your spirit for Eastern Washington and Delaware, you will
be sending a great message to all those potential customers about how we
do business in Frisco!”
“We’d love for businesses with marquees to consider putting an NCAA game
greeting on their billboards,” added Mayor Maso. “We want our guests to
feel welcome when they get here. It’s more than making a good first
impression – it’s about making a great lasting impression. Our hope is
for thousands of football fans to visit Frisco again, whether there’s a
game or not. Of course, one of the best ways to show your support is to
help us ‘Pack the Park’.
Eastern Washington takes on Delaware at 6 p.m. on Friday, January 7 at
Pizza Hut Park for the NCAA Division I Football Championship, which
concludes a 20-team national playoff. Tickets range from $30 to $40 and
