Market Street is Coming to Frisco

Market Street is probably the coolest grocery store I have ever been to. It is great that they are coming to Frisco! The following is an article from Inside Collin County Business,

"The success of the McKinney Market Street has sparked Lubbock-based United Supermarkets to expand its Market Street brand further into Collin County; first to Allen and, more recently, Frisco. Even though the Allen Market Street is under construction, the Frisco Market Street will open before the Allen store, some time in 2008.

The company’s leadership team sees what began as a “test of market,” with the opening of its McKinney and Colleyville stores, as a full-fledged frontier for growth.

“We would have not looked further into the Collin County market if the McKinney store had not been a success,” said Eddie Owens, director of corporate communications for United Supermarkets.

Located on the northwest corner of Eldorado Pkwy. and the Dallas North Tollway, the Frisco store will house its DFW regional office. Company co-president Gantt Bumstead, who moved to the area in August, will lead the team at the location, along with a DFW vice president and other on-site staff. The Frisco store is scheduled to break ground some time in 2008. Another feature that will remain consistent with the other Metroplex location is a mezzanine level.

“We plan to include a research and development kitchen, training facility and conference space at the Frisco store as well,” said Dan Sander, CEO of United Supermarkets. “The store will have all the bells and whistles of recently constructed Market Street stores, including a fuel station, drive-thru pharmacy, and “A Taste of Market Street,” which made its debut at the company’s new store in Lubbock.”

“A Taste of Market Street” is one of the features included in the third generation Market Street stores complete with a fuel station within the confines of the Market Street parking lot. It was first integrated into the Lubbuck store that opened in December. The smaller store is not to be confused with a convenience store and will offer many of the same products including fresh produce, gourmet meals to go, Peet’s Coffee, a bakery and an array of other products.

“But the exciting thing is that it will be offered with the convenience of a drive-through window,” said Wes Jackson, chief merchandising officer. “Now that’s ultimate service. This is all part of our ongoing effort to help people find solutions to living well in their busy lives.”
