A running toilet can waste 200 gallons of water each day. That’s 6,000
gallons a month or (even scarier) almost 70,000 gallons of water a year!
The culprit? It’s usually the rubber toilet flapper. Flappers eventually
deteriorate and require replacement.
Checking and fixing your toilet for a leak is simple. Place a few drops of
food coloring in your toilet’s tank and watch after 10 minutes to see if
the color leaks into the toilet bowl. If you notice the leak, make the
fix. Most flappers cost around $5 at a local home improvement store.
